It is a spectacular monument unique in its kind since it is entirely carved into a tuff spur (has no exterior walls). Built between 40 and 30 BC, immediately after that of Pompeii, is considered one of the oldest amphitheatres. Remained hidden for centuries in the hill from which it was derived, was reported partially to light between 1835 and 1838 in an area intended for grazing, and only in 1936 was completely unearthed. It is located in a valuable archaeological site which features an Etruscan-Roman necropolis reused at various times, especially by the pilgrims in the Middle Ages along the Via Francigena, which also includes a mithraeum reused as early Christian church with medieval frescoes.

A splendid example of Roman Mannerism is this one of the artistic patrimony of the Tuscia. In the Middle Ages was a classic feudal manor. Between the late fifteenth and early sixteenth century, the property was taken to Anguillara who worked substantial changes to the architecture.

Built on the ruins of a Christian basilica was then transformed into a pre-Romanesque era and consecrated by Pope Innocent III in 1207; valuable works: the floor of the nave (all cosmatesco mosaic), a Roman school board of the XIII sec., a fine wooden statue of St. Dolcissima attributed to the school of Bernini, the Crypt dating back to Lombard and l ' Inzoli organ of 1881 in mechanical transmission, recently restored.

Particularly charming corner of the heart of the city, exudes a special charm tied to the tradition and history of the people. In 2000 a large building built in 1936, that overlooked the beautiful fountain was demolished for structural reasons, giving back to Via Giovanni Andrea dell'Anguillara air and light.
